Admission Procedure

Admission Procedure for Ananda Sastralaya National School - Mathugama

In Sri Lanka, admissions to government and National Schools are mainly handled by the Ministry of Education Sri Lanka and provincial education authorities. The admission process differs for Grade 1, Grade 6, and Advanced Level (Grade 12).

Grade 1 Admission Procedure

Eligibility

  • The child must complete 5 years of age before the specified cut-off date (usually January 31 of the admission year).
  • Applications are submitted by parents or legal guardians.

Main Admission Categories

Students are selected according to marks allocated under several categories such as:

  • Residence near the school
  • Old boys/girls associations

  • Grade 5 Scholarship Examination results

  • Merit-based selection

  • Students from underprivileged schools

Advanced Level (Grade 12) Admission Procedure

Eligibility

Students apply after completing:

  • G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination (O/L)

Internal Students

Students already studying in the school are admitted based on:

  • O/L results
  • School selection criteria
  • Stream preference (Science, Commerce, Arts, Technology)

External Students

External applicants may apply if vacancies exist.
